The Curve of Joy
A fleeting gift, your smile appears,
A crescent moon in daylight's guise.
It blooms, unhurried, and endears,
A silent language of the eyes.
The corners lift, a gentle rise,
Like petals opening to the sun.
What secrets does your smile comprise?
What tales of joy not yet begun?
I wonder at its soft allure,
The way it transforms all your face.
Is it for me? Can I be sure?
Or just a moment's passing grace?
Sometimes it's shy, a whispered hint,
A barely-there curve of delight.
Other times bold, without restraint,
Beaming bright as morning light.
I long to trace its subtle arc,
To feel its warmth beneath my thumb.
To chase away encroaching dark
With laughter that has yet to come.
But for now, I simply observe,
This miracle of muscle and skin.
How swiftly it can soothe, unnerve,
Speak volumes where words haven't been.
I'll treasure each one that I see,
Store them like gems within my mind.
For in your smile, there seems to be
A promise of a love refined.
So smile on, let joy unfurl,
Upon your lips, a sweet refrain.
Each one's a gift, a precious pearl,
I hope to see time and again.
