Utter
A gasp, a crack, the syllable breaks—
word splinters, jagged edges cutting the void.
Utterance, a rebellion,
sound dragged from silence kicking,
clinging to air like moths to a dying flame.
It is not what you say,
but the tremor of saying—
a howl swallowed whole,
a whisper that devours.
Utter.
And the world shifts, infinitesimal,
a ripple against the stagnant ocean.
To utter is to exist,
to exist is to fracture the quiet,
and in the shattering,
become.
