BITS and Pieces: A Collage Of My BITSian Memories is a captivating memoir by Harshita Nanda, an alumna of the esteemed BITS Pilani. The book takes readers on a nostalgic journey to the campus of BITS Pilani, where Harshita spent some of the most memorable years of her life.
The book is divided into 26 chapters, each titled alphabetically, and each chapter captures a unique aspect of college life. Harshita’s writing is lucid and fast-paced, making the book an easy and enjoyable read. The author successfully reflects the psychological aspects of a girl student who is away from home in an open environment of college life, full of adventurous and new circumstances.
The book is not just about Harshita’s personal experiences but also presents the educational scenario of BITS Pilani. Readers seeking admission to the institute will find this book fascinating, despite the fact that it has been two decades since the author graduated and much would have changed by now. The book is an excellent guide for those seeking admission to the prestigious institution.
BITSian alumni will cherish the book as it will rekindle their memories of audi, c’not, oasis, and many more. However, the book is not limited to BITSian alumni alone. As a non-BITSian myself, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and could relate my own college memories to the anecdotes in the book.
The illustrations in the book are another stellar aspect. The illustrator has created customized and delightful images for each alphabet, aptly depicting the content of the chapter. The placement of the illustrations at the end of each chapter makes it more interesting. Introducing the chapter first and then illustrations at the end relates both very well. This is an innovative idea and I liked it very much. It makes each chapter more enjoyable.
In conclusion, BITS and Pieces: A Collage Of My BITSian Memories is a beautifully presented collection of anecdotes from the author’s college life. It is an excellent read for anyone interested in college life, BITS Pilani, or higher education in an open environment. The book will make you want to experience college life all over again and leave you wanting more of the author’s experiences.
