A ‘Sestina’ it had been a good run, but, resigned, he now set his shoulders, ready to take the fall for her; a final stand; sighing, he took his turn and let the chips fall through the window, he watched the leaves fall over the meadow; no place to run; nowhere to turn; nothing for […]
Down the river, or: The fall
The river flows, its waters deep and wide,
Reflecting in its depths the changing sky,
A mirror of the world that passes by.
The trees that line its banks are tall and green,
Their leaves rustling gently in the breeze,
A peaceful scene, a respite from the grind.
But life is not always so gentle and kind,
And sometimes the river's flow turns rough and wide,
As storms roll in and gusts of wind increase,
Tossing waves like angry fists at the sky,
The trees bend low, their branches brown and green,
Struggling to withstand the tempest's fierce eye.
And yet, despite the chaos, time passes by,
And slowly but surely, the storm subsides,
The river returns to its calm, serene green,
Its flow once more steady and sure and wide,
The clouds part, revealing a bright blue sky,
And life resumes its daily pace and increase.
For change is the one constant we can't decrease,
It's the force that propels us forward, year by year, by,
Through the twists and turns of fate, under sun and sky,
The ebb and flow of joy and pain that life provides,
The highs and lows that make our hearts both soar and subside,
The many shades of hope, love, fear, and green.
So let us embrace change, in all its shades of green,
Let us welcome its challenges and opportunities to increase,
Let us learn from the storms that make our spirits subside,
And let us remember that time, like the river, will always fly,
But if we hold on to the beauty of the world that surrounds us and provides,
We will find peace and purpose under every sun and sky.
And so the river flows, deep and wide and green,
A reminder of the cycles of life that never decrease,
But continue to increase, as the days and years go by.

As the sun rises above the horizon, casting its warm glow on the world, we are reminded of the simple beauty of life. The world around us is filled with wonder, from the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, to the flowing of the rivers and the majesty of the mountains.
Yet, amidst this beauty, we can sometimes feel lost and alone, struggling to find our place in the world. It is in these moments that we must remember the power of connection, of reaching out to others and sharing our hearts and souls.
For it is in these connections that we find a sense of belonging and purpose, a sense of being part of something greater than ourselves. Whether it is through the support of friends and family, the kindness of strangers, or the bonds we forge with our communities, these connections give us the strength to face life’s challenges with courage and resilience.
And as we share our hearts and souls with others, we discover that the world is filled with love and compassion, that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. It is this hope that sustains us, that gives us the courage to keep moving forward, even when the road ahead seems long and difficult.
So let us take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the world around us, to cherish the connections we have with others, and to remember that no matter what challenges we may face, we are never truly alone. For in the end, it is the love and compassion we share with others that truly defines us, that makes our lives rich and meaningful, and that reminds us of the simple, heartwarming beauty of life.
