Firstly, Amazon boldly claims to stream “plenty” of Golden Globeโnominated titles. However, only four titlesโChallengers, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses, and Abbott Elementaryโare available with a standard Prime subscription. Every other movie or series demands additional payment.
For dramatic films like Conclave or Dune: Part Two, customers must either buy or rent them, often through pricey add-ons like Max. Similarly, celebrated musical films like Wicked or A Real Pain require further expenditure, despite their strong association with Prime Videoโs promotional material.
Moreover, Amazon deceptively integrates third-party add-ons, such as Apple TV+, Paramount+, or Mubi, into their offerings. This strategy blurs the line between exclusive Prime Video content and material requiring extra subscriptions. It forces customers into spending more for what they assumed was part of their existing membership.
