Eternal Summer

The dust remembers how we danced

While sunlight poured like liquid gold

In fields where fireflies advanced

The dust remembers how we danced

Your laughter still in silence pranced

A story that will not grow old

The dust remembers how we danced

While sunlight poured like liquid gold

My thought process while writing this triolet was to explore how memory preserves love beyond physical existence. The dust becomes a metaphor for the eternal nature of human connection – even when bodies turn to dust, the essence of who we were and whom we loved remains vibrantly alive. The summer setting provides both beauty and melancholy, as fireflies advancing into darkness suggest how love persists even beyond death. The repetition creates a ritualistic quality, as if the act of remembering itself becomes a form of eternal summer – a season that never truly ends. W3 Prompt #221
